Reorganizing Priorities... Again

After completing a marathon and multiple half marathons, it is crazy to start back at the beginning. Here I am, training for the Shamrock Shuffle. The race that started it all, so to speak. Now that work is less crazy and the temperatures seem to be slowly but surely increasing, running is becoming a priority again. I've been able to run once a week for the past month or so, but now I want to make it back to my more regular schedule of 2-3 times per week.

Running Selfie with Patsy

It is crazy. After surviving two separate polar vortices (yes, I had to look up the plural form of vortex) ans spring around the corner, you know what that means--more time out in the jogging stroller with Patsy! Something that didn't seem like much of an incline before, now seems like a very steep hill when you're pushing a jogging stroller, plus infant carseat, plus a 14 lb baby! I may not be strength training by lifting weights, but hoisting this baby around has to account for something. :) I'm very excited for spring to be here. The temps will be warmer and Patsy will be big enough to hang out in the stroller without the need of the infant carseat. Everything is coming up Wilson! For the mean time, we will power through these cold days because it will make us appreciate the spring time a little bit more.

Baby Patsy Wilson: 5 Months

Patsy is currently: 5 months old. Holy cow!

Weight: the last time we went to the doctor in late January, she was 12lb, 3oz... Officially jumping from about the 5th percentile to the 10th! I couldn't be more excited that my little girl is getting so big!

Clothing: She is in 3-6 month clothes and holding strong

Nicknames: Patsy Watsy, Skittles, bucket head

Health/Diet:  I'm very proud of myself that despite being back at work for the past month, I've been able to keep up with Patsy's demand and she is still on only mama's milk. :)

Sleep: Oh where to begin?! She hasn't had a good sleep through the night in several weeks now. She is constantly up and eating all night long. I don't mind the extra snuggles since I miss her all day, but it would be nice to sleep for more than a 2 hour stretch every once in awhile...

Milestones: She rolled over the other day for Dad but hasn't yet done it for mom! We might need to practice and spend some time on the ground this weekend. I'm off work on Monday so I'll be spending it with my little girl! We also had a playdate planned with Meghan and Layla. Get ready for some cuteness overload!
Trying to hold hands and refusing to sit still

Likes: being held, extra snuggles, tubby time, her teething toys, her exersaucer

Dislikes: sleeping through the night, paced bottle feedings, not being held all night long

Like mother, like daughter... Big smiles all around!

Happy 5 Months, my little Patricia Rose!

2014 Race Goals

Well the 2014 racing season is just around the corner. As I'm struggling to balance everything as a new mom, working full time, my race goals have been revised than what I thought they would be before Patsy's arrival. I don't want to talk about what could have been, but keep it positive about what I can do and what I will do!
First stroller run of 2014

First things first, I will be continuing my tradition of running the Shamrock Shuffle. I've run this race every year since 2006, even when I was pregnant last year! My time goal is not something that I'm focusing on--instead I have my eyes on the post-baby PDR I will be setting. If you haven't run this race yet, have you been living under a rock?? Just kidding, kind of. I highly recommend it and I'm not alone!

I also have a few other races on the horizon. I'm ecstatic to announce that I am a Zooma Ambassador for the 2014 Chicago event! I had an absolute blast participating in the Great Lakes event back in 2012 (full recap here) where I spent the weekend with bloggers, carbs, wine, chocolate, and cheese. You know, all of the essentials! I'm sure there will be more great details to follow on how you can join me out on the lakefront for this fun event!

Last year I was asked if I would like to participate in a Spartan event. Since I was pregnant at the time, I didn't feel it was a great idea for our little nugget. I was debating whether or not I should take the plunge this year, hearing how difficult and intense the race can be. I've decided to suck it up, stop being afraid, and go for it! I'll be joined by my friend (weight lifting buddy, crossfit rockstar, and great gal pal) Kate, who has made some previous appearances on the blog. She's going to help me train and get ready for this event.

I'm still determining the rest of my 2014 race calendar, but I think I have some really fun events on the horizon. I hope you stick around for the journey!
