Swass and Spray Tans

Yesterday I set my alarm to get up at 5am to go for a morning run. When my 5am alarm went off, I ignored it and went back to sleep, without even noticing. I woke up at my normal time and thought "Damnit!!!". I haven't gone for a pre-work run in over a year. I used to love getting up before work and get my sweat on. I seem to have lost the motivation for it. I know I'll get it back soon... I hope!!

The reason why I wanted to get my run done early is that I had a spray tan appointment after work. My cousin's bridal shower is this weekend so I wanted to give it an old test run. The thing is, once you get it done, you can't sweat for the next 24 hours. (#firstworldrunnerproblem) Thankfully I had enough time before my appointment to head to the gym and the treadmill. I decided to give my clearance Nike capris another try. Well, I forgot how sweaty I get while running on the treadmill, and I instantly knew these capris were a bad idea. I could feel the sweat marks forming and kept pulling down my shirt. I'm not sure if that made it better or worse. This time, I got a post-run photo. Yay for sweaty underwear marks!

After my 2.8 mile run, I rushed home, showered and headed to the spray tan place. Have you ever gotten a spray tan before? Please let me know what you think of them! Personally, I think they're fun, and I get to be tan for a short period of time--something that would otherwise never happen. My skin has two color options, porcelain or lobster. There is no in between. I love being pale, don't get me wrong. I just also like to be tan about 3x per year. :)

P.S. Have you entered the Oiselle raffle? Their running clothes are amazeballs! You should check it out, if you haven't already!!

  1. No spray tans for me(yet that is), I am always worried it will turn me orange. I have wanted to try though. Maybe one day I will get up enough courage.

  2. I go to a place by me and a girl airbrushes it on you. I think those types of places are the best because you can explain what you're looking for and what you want to achieve. I think that spray tans have come such a long way in recent years and it isn't difficult to find a great non-orange spray tan. I highly recommend it! :)

  3. No spray tans here. I tan pretty naturally when I'm outside. Take today for example. I ran about 3.5 miles or so outside at lunch with a tank top and arm warmers on and already have an arm warmer tan line! The past two summers my shorts tan line has been EPIC due to all my summer marathon training.

  4. I have never had a spray tan! Like Erin, I sport the racerback/shorts tan line. Sigh.

I love getting runs in before work, but hate waking up that early! Today I tried to get up at 4:00. Didn't happen. Sometimes I get up at 3:30! YUCK!!!

  5. I am jealous of those folks that tan. I usually have to bathe in sunscreen before a half marathon because of the sweet razorback burn I will incur. I even get sunburn if it is cloudy outside! Pale. People. Problems. :)

  6. The spray tan is something that I enjoy a few times a year. Last year I got it done once for a friend's wedding. I ran 12 or 14 miles the day of the wedding and I had a sports bra mark. Oopsies! Lol.

I don't know how you do it with those early starts. I can barely roll out of bed at 5:45! Then again, I have a hard time going to bed before 10:15 (I go to bed at 10 and mess with my phone for 15 minutes!)

  7. I swear, my bootay and who-ha sweat more than my pits. (Wait, TMI? lol) It's black capris for me, every time. Even though I really want to sport the fun colors, it just won't work. That "pee'd in pants" style is so last year.

I've gotten spray tans a couple of times. I like 'em! I feel kinda gross for the 48 hours when you can't shower (sticky icky), but the results are amazing and I actually look human! The drawback to being Irish is the inability to tan. At all.

  8. I love spray tans!!! I like the ones where an actual human sprays you (as opposed to a machine). Somewhat awkward but totally worth it!

  9. I have never gotten a spray tan! I'm terrified of the Ross on Friends issue and getting double sprayed on one side... ha ha

  11. Haha, I went to one of those booths once and I hated it. I only get airbrushed by an actual person (it is only a little bit more and you are almost guaranteed an even an amazing tan. :) I highly, highly recommend it! Spray of Sunshine is the place I go to. They have locations by me (in Mokena) and also in the city. Just throwing it out there.... :)

  12. Haha, no, it isn't TMI! :) I have come to realize that I might be an only dark color capris girl also. I forget how much I sweat until it is showing through my clothes everywhere. Haha!

Yes, us Irish folk have to get a tan somehow, right? Spray tans = winning!!

  14. This design is incredible! You obviously know how to keep
a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved
to start my own blog (well, almost...HaHa!) Excellent job. I really loved what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
    Too cool!
